Cymru Trial Report

As always the weather made things interesting, with most crews struggling with the morning session as the rain hammered down up in Hendrellwyn-y-Maen, near Llanfair Talhaiarn. The afternoon proved to be more successful and the crews started achieving better results. Our very own DVT managed to finally get some traction and started to actually make it off the start line!

Congratulations to Barrie Parker who took the overall winner spot in his Volkswagon Scirocco. North Wales Car Club members Dave V Thomas took first in Class 1, whilst 15 year old Dale Davies was first in the Juniors, despite having DVT as his co-driver! Sophie Madeley was impressive on every stage and took first Junior in the Clubsport. Sophie’s father Eliot Madeley once again took first place overall in the Clubsport.

The timed sections proved to be hugely popular with Gruffydd Parry and Elis Mathews making some spectacular and highly entertaining jumps and even managed to loose the front end of their Subaru Legacy.

Brothers Kevin and Alan Roberts certainly had fun in their stage prepared Peugeot 106, and were smiling all the way round.

On stage 8, in between rounds it appeared, at first, there was a late entry from NWCC members Neil Coulson, Rob Formestone and Simon Cotton in a ‘Courtesy Car’ (Peugeot 107) although it was later revealed it was just a ‘safety car’ and not a timed stage car. They certainly looked like they were having fun!

The NWCC and chief marshal Kevin Griffiths would like to say a huge thanks to all the marshals for putting up with the rain and making the event safe. We would like to thank joint Clerks-of-the-course Rob Jones and Barry Turner and Club Steward Baz Green. Thanks to Mr Robin Crossley for the use of his land and to entries secretary DVT for all his hard work. In particular, we would like to say a special thanks to Claire Thomas for having to decipher all the results cards and for the bacon & sausage butties!
